Is green, renewable energy a good investment?
Justifiably so, global warming and climate change have become one of the most pressing issues of our time.
To mitigate their negative effects, it is essential to switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.
Europe has set ambitious goals to reduce their dependence on unsustainable energy sources and increase the share of renewable energy.
The role of crowdfunding is becoming increasingly important in the financing of projects. It allows financing companies and energy cooperatives to reach a broader investor base and raise capital for their projects.
Simultaneously, investors can help shape their own future and even profit economically from the energy transition.
Energy projects are e.g. solar plants or wind farms that generate renewable electricity. The electricity is sold and thereby generates stable cash flows for the project.
These cash flows allow for low risk financing, usually with a tenor of 5-10 years and a fixed interest rate.
Your advantages at a glance
You gain access to investments in renewable energy, otherwise exclusive to banks.
You are doing something good while profiting from the energy transition.
Fixed-income with fixed interest rates over a clear period of time.
Understanding crowdfunding for renewable energy investments
As renewable energy projects progress, investment risk decreases. The costly early phases are completed, and regulatory and technical hurdles are overcome. By the project's end, fixed purchase contracts often secure regular and predictable income, further reducing risk.
To maximize your investment, it's wise to diversify across multiple projects and balance your portfolio with other liquid assets. Key factors we consider when selecting the best opportunities include:
- The company's legal structure (e.g., limited liability company, public limited company)
- The stage of the company's development (early stage, later stage)
- The company’s strategic goals (long-term profitability, planned sale)
Before you start, make sure to read up on our investment guide and how to manage your investments to get a better understanding of how it works.
Our due diligence for renewable energy investment opportunities
Every investment opportunity we offer has undergone a thorough due diligence process, with only the top 1% of companies meeting our strict criteria. This ensures that our investors access high-quality, low-risk renewable energy projects.
Success stories from investors in renewable energy projects
Renewable energy projects in Europe enable early community participation in economic growth and the energy transition in the form of fixed interest rates.
Explore the leading companies working with us to drive the future of renewable energy investments across Europe:
Windpark Fryslân
Windpark Fryslân stands for sustainable energy and regional strength. More than 2,900 citizens invested €27.1 million through Invesdor, including €6 million in just 24 hours. This led to the creation of the world’s largest inland wind farm in the IJsselmeer. Today, 89 wind turbines produce clean electricity for around 500,000 households and help avoid large amounts of CO₂ every year. Over 100 regional companies were involved, and the Province of Friesland is a co-shareholder. This shows how equity investments can unite climate action, returns, and community.
Solar park Oberthal
Solar Park Oberthal stands for progress, climate protection, and regional responsibility. Over 1,100 investors contributed €3.15 million to write a new chapter of clean energy in Saarland. With around 6.9 MWp, the park will supply approximately 2,300 households and save around 3,600 tons of CO₂. The project is led by Green FOX Energy, an experienced developer in the field of renewable energy. The investment offers a fixed interest rate of 7% and shows how returns and responsibility can go hand in hand.
Wind farm Oude Maas
The wind farm Oude Maas is located in the dutch municipality of Hoeksche Waard in South Holland. The site was chosen because the combination of wind, technical infrastructure, and the wide boundary between land and water makes it particularly well-suited for generating energy from wind turbines.
The wind farm has been fully operational since September 2022.
With the help of the crowd, €1.8 million was raised from 293 investors in a short period of time.
What our experts have to say about investing in clean energy companies
"Crowdfunding renewable energy projects offers our investors the opportunity to invest in renewable energy projects alongside the largest banks, professional investors and developers, while making a direct and immediate impact on the environment: generating renewable energy and reducing CO2 emissions."
